Before you book

Not horror. Not VR. No one touches you, and you're never locked in.

• What actually happens?+

  You sit down inside a shipping container. The headphones go on. The lights go out. 360-degree sound builds a world around you, one your mind fills in, because it has nothing to see.
• Is it scary?+

  Intense and unnerving, closer to a strange, vivid dream than a scary film. Not horror: no jump scares, no actors in the dark, no one touches you. You can take the headphones off at any time, and doors are never locked.
• How long?+

  SÉANCE: allow 20 minutes (16 minutes running time). FLIGHT: allow 25 minutes (22 minutes). Most people do both in about an hour.
• Do I need to do both?+

  No, you don't need to. Most people do, because the two are different sides of DARKFIELD and seeing both gives you a fuller sense of the work. Either one stands alone.
• Can I leave once it starts?+

  You are asked to stay seated unless there is an emergency. You can take your headphones off at any point, which takes the intensity down without disturbing anyone else. Tell a staff member if you would rather sit near the exit.
• What's the age requirement?+

  Ages 15 and over can come on their own. 13 and 14 year olds need a responsible adult over 18 with them, in the same show at the same time. Under 13 we cannot admit.
• Where exactly is it?+

  DARKFIELD is in the Distillery District, 55 Mill Street. Take the 504A streetcar to Distillery Loop, or park at Green P on Distillery Lane or under 70 Distillery Lane. The historic streets are cobblestone and uneven in places. Tell us if that is difficult and we will walk you through the smoothest route to the containers.
